A group of religious leaders from Birmingham learns of your situation and drives you and the other Riders in an eight-car convoy across the Alabama countryside to Birmingham, where you are reunited with the group that had made it to that city earlier the same day. They encountered an angry mob that greeted them with pipes. Many Riders were severely beaten and are hospitalized.
