Join us for a bird count contest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians (GVNI). Upon registering in the visitor center on the day of the event, participants will receive forms and instructions for recording, documenting, and verifying the various bird species encountered during their self-guided tour of the site. The participant with the most verified bird species documented during the count will be awarded a Mississippi Mound Trail mug, t-shirt, and bird woodcarving created by artist John Parfait.
Completed bird count forms must be returned to the GVNI visitor center in person or by emailing info@natchezgrandvillage.com by 4 p.m. that day. Comfortable, weather appropriate clothing is recommended and digital photography equipment is required. For more information about this event, call 601-446-6502 or email info@natchezgrandvillage.com.
