Manage your agency’s records with confidence. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is responsible for implementing Mississippi’s laws on records management. That’s why MDAH offers many free and low-cost support services to assist state and local government officials in managing their records.
For state agencies, MDAH State Government Records staff provides assistance with developing records control schedules for approval by the State Records Committee. We also offer training programs, consultations, and more.
For local entities, MDAH Local Government Records staff provides assistance with developing records control schedules for approval by the Local Government Records Committee. We also offer special services for counties, consultations, training programs, and more.
Viewing Archival Records
The content in this section is for state and local government officials. Individuals who wish to view archival records in our collection may visit the William F. Winter Archives & History Building. Before you visit, we suggest searching our online Catalog for descriptions of the records you wish to see in person — from census, marriage and military records to court cases and labor contracts.
Not all records are housed at MDAH. Information on how to purchase copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce records not found at the archives is online at the Vital Records office of the State Department of Health website.
