Mississippi Made Gallery Talk: Entertainment

Join us for the free Mississippi Made gallery talk at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, in the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Exhibition Hall at the Two Mississippi Museums. In connection with America250, this family-friendly event will highlight Mississippi’s legacy in entertainment. JoAnn Gordon, the film commissioner for the Canton Movie Museums, will focus on Canton as the film capital of Mississippi, featuring films such as My Dog Skip and A Time to Kill in the exhibit. Malika Polk-Lee, executive director of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, will focus on B.B. King’s legacy in the blues scene and how his story is told in the museum. Welty Wednesdays

Join the Eudora Welty House & Garden (EWHG) for Welty Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, January 8. In honor of 1119 Pinehurst Street's 100-year anniversary, free admission will be offered every Wednesday, in addition to the long-standing tradition of free admission on the 13th of each month honoring Welty’s April 13 birthday.

History Is Lunch: Ralph Eubanks, "The Mississippi Delta: Rich Soil and Poor Land"

At noon on Wednesday, September 9, Ralph Eubanks, author of When It’s Darkness on the Delta: How America’s Richest Soil Became Its Poorest Land, will examine the history and economy of the Mississippi Delta as part of the History Is Lunch series. Eubanks, faculty fellow and writer in residence at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi
