National Day of Racial Healing

Join us at the Two Mississippi Museums on Tuesday, January 20, to celebrate the National Day of Racial Healing, established by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. With FedEx sponsoring free admission, we encourage visitors to donate canned goods to support the food drive partnered with Stewpot Community Services. There will be a panel discussion in the morning honoring the life and legacy of Rims and Judy Barber. Rims Barber was a Freedom Summer volunteer, served with the Children’s Defense Fund, and still actively engages with the community in Jackson. In the afternoon, a student-led panel on racial healing aims to amplify the voices of the next generation in partnership with the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Institute and Foundation for the Mid South, along with local high schools, colleges, and universities. These programs will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium with light refreshments provided. For more information on the extended MLK Weekend Celebration, click here.
