Join us on Sunday, September 13, at 3 p.m. to celebrate Gospel Music Heritage Month, with live performances and immersive storytelling exploring the genre's history, culture, and community. Chandra Wise will display her private collection of sheet music along with other memorabilia from renowned gospel singers. This free event will take place in the Craig H. Join the Eudora Welty House & Garden (EWHG) for Welty Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, January 8. In honor of 1119 Pinehurst Street's 100-year anniversary, free admission will be offered every Wednesday, in addition to the long-standing tradition of free admission on the 13th of each month honoring Welty’s April 13 birthday.

History Is Lunch: Randy Deaton, “Art Crimes: The FBI and the Return of a Mississippi Rifle”

At noon on Wednesday, August 12, Randy Deaton, retired FBI special agent, will discuss the remarkable story of a nineteenth-century rifle carried by Private Charles H. Gibbs during the Mexican-American War and later tied to the Civil War. The rifle disappeared from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in the 1970s and remained missing for more than 40 years.
