Sunday Screening: The Whiskey Speech

Join us for a free event featuring a screening of The Whiskey Speech: Soggy Sweat and the Power of Storytelling at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium at the Two Mississippi Museums. Judge Noah S. “Soggy” Sweat first delivered “The Whiskey Speech” at the King Edward Hotel in Jackson in 1952. The speech examines the historical, political, economic and religious arguments surrounding prohibition, presenting both sides of the debate. The documentary runs 40 minutes and includes material from more than 50 interviews David Crews, director, conducted with John Grisham, Marty Stuart, Curtis Wilkie, and several of Sweat’s friends.
