How to Visit

Tours are available by reservation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:30, 10:00, and 10:30 a.m. except during holidays.*

Reservations are required and must be made at least seventy-two hours in advance.

To request a reservation

  1. Click on the “Request a tour” link below.
  2. Provide your name, address, and driver’s license on the form. This information will be used by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to perform a criminal background check.
  3. Choose the date and time for your tour.
  4. Include the names of all tour participants on the form.
  5. Following a clear criminal background check, the Mansion curator will confirm the tour with you via email. Request a tour here.

*The Mansion is closed for tours the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. Please contact the Governor's Mansion curator at 601-359-6421 or at mansioncurator@mdah.ms.gov to request a tour during the month of December.

General information about tours

A tour of the 1842 historic interior of the Governor’s Mansion lasts about 30 minutes.

A garden tour also is available as weather conditions and special projects permit. Garden tours take 10 minutes.

Tours are free of charge!

Reservations are required and must be made at least seventy-two hours in advance.

Criminal background checks are performed prior to confirmation of your tour.

There are no public restrooms at the Mansion.

Do not bring food, drink, oversized bags, or strollers to your tour. No storage is available at the Mansion and these items are not allowed in the historic section.

The Mansion reserves the right to cancel tours due to unexpected events.

Groups are welcome! The maximum is fifty people per tour except during special events.

Accessibility

The Mississippi Governor’s Mansion is handicapped-accessible with some limitations.

There are no public restrooms available at the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion. Please schedule a rest stop before your visit.

The Governor's Mansion has elevator access only to the first floor of the historic section. The second floor of the historic section is accessible only by stairs.

Parking

For security reasons, the public is not permitted to park on the Mansion grounds.

Driving Directions

Take the Pearl Street exit (96A) off I-55 and follow Pearl Street to West Street. Turn right onto West Street and go one block north to Capitol Street. Immediately past Capitol Street, look on the right for the side gate of the Mansion. Individuals and groups should gather at this gate for tours.
