Ken Burns' "Country Music" Screening
The Two Mississippi Museums is hosting a free preview of Ken Burns’ latest documentary Country Music at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 11. Grammy winner and Louisville native Carl Jackson will make a special appearance. Seating is limited for this free event. Save your seat by registering at mpbonline.org/mpbcountry.
“We are excited to partner with Mississippi Public Broadcasting and the MPB Foundation to share the stories about Mississippi’s deep roots in country music,” said Katie Blount, director of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
The screening event will include a performance by the Willie Nelson tribute band Luckenbach, a 35-minute clip of the documentary featuring Jimmie Rodgers, and a special appearance by singer/songwriter and Louisville, Mississippi, native Carl Jackson. A Grammy winner, Jackson is revered among country artist icons, and he is the subject of an upcoming MPB original documentary slated for January 2020.

Country Music is an eight-part, 16-hour documentary that explores the history of a uniquely American art form. It features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than eighty country music artists. It will premiere on Mississippi Public Broadcasting Television at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 15.
