The Eudora Welty House & Garden has launched a new website that allows visitors to experience the home of the Pulitzer Prize–winning author online.
At noon on Wednesday, June 10, as part of the department’s History Is Lunch series, Wilma Mosley Clopton will present “Mississippi Justice: Then and Now.”
At noon on Wednesday, June 3, as part of the department’s History Is Lunch series, Jeff Giambrone will present “’Pledged to One Country and One Flag’: The Grand Army of the Republic in Mississippi.”
At noon on Wednesday, June 17, as part of the department’s History Is Lunch series, William C. Lester will present “The Delta and Dockery.”
The MDAH and the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute have named Teona Williams, a doctoral candidate at Yale University, the 2020 Medgar and Myrlie Evers Research Scholar.
This week, we are highlighting a 2018 History Is Lunch presentation by John Cuevas and photographer Jason Taylor entitled "Discovering Cat Island: Photographs and History."
Margaret Pless, a doctoral student at the University of Mississippi, has been named the 2020 Eudora Welty Fellow. Pless will use archival holdings at MDAH to research how Eudora Welty constructed her identity in her writing.
In May of 2019 for History Is Lunch, University of Alabama professor and author Natalie Adams presented "Just Trying to Have School: The Struggle for Desegregation in Mississippi."
Mississippi History Now, an online publication of the Mississippi Historical Society, has posted its newest article, “Mississippi's Forgotten Soldiers: Women in the Ranks during the Civil War.”
