Having challenges with researching your African American ancestors? MDAH Curator of Research and Genealogy Joyce Dixon-Lawson will lead an online workshop using the probate records, deed records, Census records, and personal diaries of former slave owners available at MDAH. Dixon-Lawson will also answer questions and offer tips to help participants negotiate slavery's legacy to find their ancestors. Registration is $10 per person.

MDAH is partnering with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mississippi Veterans Affairs, and the Mississippi War Veterans Memorial Commission to honor Mississippians who serve and have served in the United States Armed Forces on Tuesday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held on Entergy Mississippi Plaza at the Two Mississippi Museums with COVID-19 safety precautions in place.
Make the Two Mississippi Museums a trick or treat stop this Halloween! Discover mysteries from Mississippi's past with our scavenger hunt, and visit our social-distanced trick-or-treat stations placed throughout the building for spirited holiday fun. Admission to the museums is free during the event.

Tuesday, October 6, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Fannie Lou Hamer Birthday Celebration. In honor of Hamer’s birthday, admission to the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum will be free.
