Join us at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, for a Historic Jefferson College community meeting at the Natchez Convention Center. MDAH is working with the exhibit firm The Design Minds, Inc. to develop a comprehensive plan for the future of Historic Jefferson College. From exhibits about the history of the region to a preservation trade school and an event space, the possibilities are endless. We want your input on how Historic Jefferson College can better meet the community’s needs.

At noon on Wednesday, February 23, Calvin Head and Leroy Johnson will present “Mileston Cooperative Farm” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.

On Thursday, February 24, at 11:30 a.m., Paige Mizell of Mizell's Camellia Hill Nursery will lead a guided camellia walk through the historic Welty Garden. Guests can purchase select varieties of heirloom camellias from Mizell's Camellia Hill Nursery following the tour while supplies last. This event is free and open to the public. Join us on Thursday, February 24, for the premiere showing of the new documentary The Defenders at 7 p.m. in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. The showing is free and open to the public. Face masks and social distancing guidelines are required. 

At noon on Wednesday, February 16, Holly Foster, Eric Platt, and David Taylor will present “Mississippi College during the Civil War” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.

At noon on Wednesday, February 9, Talamieka Brice and Kiese Laymon will present “Duck Hill Lynchings: Local and National History” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.

Are you interested in learning more about the military service of your family members? Join us for Finding Your Family: Intro to Military Research at the William F. Winter Archives & History Building on Saturday, February 19, 10­–11 a.m. MDAH staff will teach participants how to use military records of Mississippi soldiers from the American Revolution to World War II such as service records, pensions, grave registration cards, World War I draft registration forms, statement of service cards, and World War II discharge records that are available in the MDAH archival collections.

At noon on Wednesday, February 2, Frank Figgers will present “Stories and Secrets: A History of the Stringer Grand Lodge” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.

The Eudora Welty House & Garden will host the virtual teachers workshop, "Purloined Letters, Petrified Men, and More: Welty, Poe, and the Confluences of Mystery Fiction" led by Michael Pickard, Millsaps College professor of English and creative writing, and Suzanne Marrs, Welty Foundation Scholar-in-Residence and Millsaps College emerita professor of English. Registration fee is $40 and participants will be given completion forms to send in to Millsaps College to receive their .5 CEU credit.

On Mondays at noon, the Eudora Welty House & Garden will present online book discussions of William Faulkner's 1929 novel, The Sound and the Fury, led by University of Mississippi professor Jay Watson and Welty's friend and biographer Suzanne Marrs.
