History Is Lunch: Ben Fatherree, "The Origins of the Mississippi Community College System"

Sunday Screening of Rosenwald

Join us for a screening of Rosenwald at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. Directed by Aviva Kempner, this documentary tells the story of Julius Rosenwald, a Jewish businessman and philanthropist who worked with African American communities to build schools in the Jim Crow South. The Mississippi Museum Conference will be held at the Two Mississippi Museums– Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum–on September 16–17, 2024, in Jackson. This two-day program will offer training and networking opportunities to cultural institutions in the state of Mississippi. Session topics will focus on best practices for museums in a range of topics such as community engagement, collections management, exhibit design, education, and more.

Yoga in the Welty Garden

Bring your mats for Yoga in the Welty Garden every Tuesday in May from 7–7:30 a.m. These free, adult classes are led by certified yoga instructor Maya Morris, and each class will begin with setting an intention based on a quote from Eudora Welty. Mother's Day Pressed Flower Workshop

Join us for a Pressed Flower Workshop in honor of Mother's Day at the Eudora Welty House & Garden (EWHG). Rachel Lott, special projects coordinator and flower pressing expert, will lead a make-and-take where participants will make their own pressed flower artwork featuring pressed flowers from the Welty Garden. Rachel has mastered the skill of pressing flowers through her years of research and work at EWHG and will share tips and tricks at the workshop.
