The Mysterious Circumstances Screening

The documentary Mysterious Circumstances: The Mysterious Death of Meriwether Lewis will be shown at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. This event will also include an introduction by Clark Richey, the director of the film. A Q&A from the audience will follow the screening. The Fearless 11 Sunday Screening

The documentary The Fearless 11 will be shown at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, at the Two Mississippi Museums. The hour-long documentary showcases the experiences of eleven Black teens who integrated Provine High School in 1965. After the screening, there will be a time for a Q&A from the audience. Family Days at the Two Mississippi Museums

Come visit the Two Mississippi Museums every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. in February for activities designed for our youngest visitors. In honor of Black History Month, families are invited to participate in hands-on art activities, guided gallery experiences, and opportunities for families to explore stories of Black Mississippians featured in both museums.  Two Mississippi Museum Store Holiday Open House

The Mississippi Museum store will host a Holiday Open House at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, to celebrate the upcoming holiday season.  The event is free to the public. There will be a 10 percent discount on all merchandise during the open house, and museum members will receive a 20 percent discount on store items. 

“We’re excited to host this holiday open house because this will create a wonderful mix of food, conversation, and relationship building right in the heart of our two museums,” said Pamela D.C. Junior, director of the Two Mississippi Museums.

The event will feature a complimentary lunch prepared by Chef Nick Wallace and will include some familiar favorites from the Nissan Cafe by Nick Wallace such as Mississippi gumbo and shrimp and grits. Wallace will also prepare a selection of finger foods for visitors to sample from 2 to 4 p.m.

Other activities include food and beverage samplings from Mississippi vendors, artist and baker meet-and-greet opportunities, light music, and complimentary gift packaging.  

The Mississippi Museum Store offers one of the state’s finest collections of folk art, local handmade crafts, pottery, jewelry, and books by and about Mississippians. Find unique holiday gifts for everyone on your list this year at the Mississippi Museum Store.

Admission to the museums is not required. The Mississippi Museum Store at the Two Mississippi Museums is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museums are  free of charge on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. are located at 222 North Street in Jackson. Two Mississippi Museums October Volunteer Intake Session

Join the Two Mississippi Museums staff for a volunteer intake session on Thursday, October 20, at 2 p.m. If you have ever wanted to volunteer at the museums or have not volunteered recently and need a refresher, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the staff, learn what volunteers do, and become acquainted with the museums. This session will take place in the Spiro Pete Cora Classroom inside the Two Mississippi Museums.

Trick or Treat at the Two Mississippi Museums

Join us for Trick or Treat at the Two Mississippi Museums on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for spirited holiday fun! Discover mysteries from Mississippi's past with our scavenger hunt and enjoy Halloween-themed games. Admission to the museums is free with costume during the event hours between 10 a.m.-3p.m, and a Monster March will also take place at 11:30 a.m. during the event. 

History Happy Hour: On the Road

Join us for an evening of history and fun on Tuesday, July 19, at the Two Mississippi Museums! The evening theme for this edition of History Happy Hour is "On the Road" in collaboration with The Negro Motorist Green Book special exhibit. Museum staff will lead interactive fifteen-minute flash tours through the exhibit, as well as through the Two Mississippi Museums featuring stories about travel and transportation in our state. Enjoy refreshments, a cash bar and live music from jazz saxophonist Tiger Rogers. Museum members will receive a complimentary drink.
