History Is Lunch is a weekly lecture series that explores different aspects of the state's past. The hour-long programs are held in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum building in Jackson.
MDAH livestreams the program at noon on Wednesdays on MDAH's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MDAHOfficial/. The videos are posted on the department’s YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/MDAHVideo.
History is Lunch: “Oral Histories: Black Female Educators in Mississippi’s Civil Rights Era”
At noon Wednesday, May 27, a panel discussed the lives of Black female educators who taught before and after desegregation as part of the History is Lunch series. Panelists include Marlee Bunch, interdisciplinary educator; Jordan Stempleman, associate professor at the Kansas City Art Institute; Christopher Span, dean of the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University; and Joyce Ladner, civil rights activist.
