Grand Sale at the Grand Village

Join us for the annual Grand Sale at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 7. Amy Bluemel of the Chickasaw Nation will demonstrate finger weaving and twining from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and storytelling. Refreshments will be served, and goodie bags will be available for children to grab and go. A 25% discount will be available for baskets, and all other merchandise will receive a 15% discount. The Untold Stories of Enslavement at Windsor: A Discussion With Hasan Kwame Jeffries

Join us for "The Untold Stories of Enslavement at Windsor" at the Mississippi Cultural Crossroads building in Port Gibson, Mississippi. The featured speaker, Hasan Kwame Jeffries, an associate professor of history at The Ohio State University, will explore the historical context of the 19th-century cotton boom that led to the establishment of the Windsor plantation. In addition, MDAH staff will share findings from recent research that bring to light the stories of those enslaved at Windsor.

Possum Ridge Paint a Train

Join us for the Possum Ridge Paint a Train workshop at 2 p.m. Friday, December 13, at the Two Mississippi Museums. This family-friendly event will allow for visitors to assemble and paint a model train after a brief tour of the Possum Ridge model train exhibit on display through December 31. Metro Jackson Heart Walk

The Mississippi Department of Archives and History will be among those participating in this year's Metro Jackson Heart Walk. The American Heart Association will host walkers and volunteers at the event set for 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 16 at the Two Mississippi Museums, located at 222 North Street in Jackson. Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister House Foundation public symposium in Vicksburg

The Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister House Foundation will host a public symposium titled “Shaping the Cultural Environment: A Window on the World,” October 24-25, honoring the life and legacy of educator Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister (1899-1996). The symposium will be held at Hinds Community College in Vicksburg and is supported by a grant from the Mississippi Humanities Council.
