History Is Lunch: Katie Blount and Miranda Vaughn, "MDAH Projects and Archives Month Updates"

At noon on Wednesday, October 4, Katie Blount and Miranda Vaughn will present “MDAH Projects and Archives Month Updates” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and stream live on the MDAH Facebook page and YouTube channel. Book sales and signing to follow.

Live Jazz in the Welty Garden

Join us for Live Jazz in the Welty Garden at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, at the Eudora Welty House & Garden. This event will feature free, live music from the Mississippi College Jazz Band in the beautiful garden that inspired many of Welty's Pulitzer Prize-winning stories. The grounds open at 5 p.m., and music starts at 5:30 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Games and a children’s station will be set up in the yard. Free lemonade and popcorn will be available. Additionally, guests can purchase food and drinks from Urban Foxes.

Archaeology Awareness Day

Interested in learning how to identify artifacts? Come to Archaeology Awareness Day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. This program will feature an artifact identification station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This program will feature an artifact identification station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., MDAH chief archaeologist Cindy Carter-Davis and professor Daniel Ladu of University of Southern Mississippi will give presentations.
