Learn how to preserve photos at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, for our Community Curation Day. Laura Heller, MDAH acquisitions & collections coordinator, will demonstrate how to best preserve photographs. Visitors may bring in family photographs or photographic items for advice on how to best preserve and store precious family items. Archival materials will be available for a limited time. The Two Mississippi Museums will host a Sunday Screening of two short films, Okay, Mr. Ray! and Ray Lum: Mule Trader from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The run time for these films is 14 minutes each. The screening will be held in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium. The short films explore the history of Mississippi, providing a glimpse into Southern manhood, community, and livelihood through the lens of a livestock trader. They also share an overarching sense of "place" and how the environment can contribute to the human experience.

This event will commemorate the Freedom Summer Project and will feature free admission, complimentary appetizers from the Nissan Café by Nick Wallace, a cash bar, and a live performance from the Kimble Funchess Music Group. Guests can also join interactive flash tours through the museums to learn about the impact of Freedom Summer on the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.
