Juneteenth Celebration: Free Weekend

Beginning at 9 a.m., this day of celebration will feature Juneteenth-themed tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., a Juneteenth family gallery activity, and visits to This Is Home: Medgar Evers, Mississippi, and the Movement exhibit.

The Crisis Screening

Released in 1916, The Crisis (about 60 minutes) will be shown at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. The Crisis is a silent film based on the novel by Winston Churchill that tells the story of the American Civil War and its struggle to end slavery. Jeff Giambrone, a historic research specialist, will speak briefly about the screening, and a live ensemble will perform a new, original score for the film.

Sunday Screening of Promised Land: A Story About Mound Bayou

Promised Land: A Story About Mound Bayou will be shown at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9. This documentary recounts the Mound Bayou community's success and growth formed under Isaiah Montgomery's leadership after the emancipation of enslaved people in Mississippi. A Q&A session with Roderick Red, CEO of Red Squared Media, and Matthew Holden, the consulting scholar on the documentary, will follow the screening. Connect to Tech

Calling all aspiring business leaders! Join us for Connect to Tech at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, at the Two Mississippi Museums. Learn how to promote and support your business with resources from business innovation experts and entrepreneurs. This program will also feature occupations associated with robotics and virtual reality technologies, coding and data and analytics skills, and growing economic opportunities in Mississippi. Visitors will also receive free admission to the temporary exhibit Solidarity Now!

Discovery Week Summer Camp

Campers ages seven to nine will walk nature trails, play games like chunkey and archery, and create unique crafts to take home during Discovery Week Summer Camp at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians from 9 a.m. to noon on June 19–23. Native American demonstrators will also provide special presentations.

History Is Lunch: Trent Brown, “The Ordeals of Hattie Lee Barnes”

At noon on Wednesday, June 28, Trent Brown will present “The Ordeals of Hattie Lee Barnes” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.
