History Is Lunch: Michael Morris, "MLK and Mississippi"

At noon Wednesday, January 22, Michael Morris, Two Mississippi Museums director, will present “MLK and Mississippi” as part of the History Is Lunch series. This program will explore Martin Luther King Jr.'s significant yet brief presence in Mississippi, highlighting his Civil Rights-era visits and their impact on the movement. The program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums and stream live on the MDAH Facebook page and YouTube channel.

What Is Conservation?

Interested in learning how to preserve that precious family heirloom? Join us for What Is Conservation? in the Spiro Pete Cora Classroom of the Two Mississippi Museums on Saturday, January 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. Katie Etre, MDAH conservator, will discuss the basics of conservation in museums as well as providing tips to preserve precious family objects. At noon Wednesday, February 5, Jim Wiggins will present “Outliving the White Lie: A Southerner's Historical, Genealogical, and Personal Journey” as part of the History Is Lunch series. Outliving the White Lie looks squarely at the many untruths regarding the history and legacy of race that has proliferated among white Americans, from the misrepresentations of Black Confederates to the myth of a 'post-racial' America.
